Set Up Your Magic S1
From unboxing to watching your cat on camera — here's everything you need to get started.

What's in the Box
Your Magic S1 package includes three items:
- Magic S1 — your robot camera
- Charging Dock — the S1's home base
- Power Adapter — to plug in the dock (DC 5V/2A)
Get to know your S1: The camera and expression display are on the front. The power switch and WiFi reset hole are on the back. The SD card slot is on top.

Place the Charging Dock
Where you put the dock matters — the S1 needs room to drive out and find its way back.
- Place the dock with its back against a wall
- Leave at least 2 feet (0.6m) of clear space on each side
- Leave at least 6 feet (2m) of clear space in front
- Plug in the power adapter
Important: Place on a flat, hard surface. If the area around the dock is too cramped, the S1 won't be able to auto-dock when its battery runs low.

Turn On & Charge
- Press and hold the power switch on the back of the S1 for about 5 seconds
- The dot-matrix face on the screen will light up — that means it's on!
- Place the S1 on the charging dock (align the contacts on the bottom)
- A full charge takes 3–4 hours and gives you 4–8 hours of battery life
You can start setting up the app while the S1 charges. No need to wait for a full charge.
Auto-charge: When the battery drops below 25%, the S1 will automatically find its way back to the dock. No reminders needed.

Connect to the Tuya Smart App
The Magic S1 works with the Tuya Smart app, available on iOS and Android.
Download the app:
Automatic connection (recommended):
- Make sure your phone's WiFi and Bluetooth are both on
- Open the Tuya Smart app and create an account (or sign in)
- Turn on the S1 — the app should show a pop-up: "Devices to be added: Magic S1"
- Tap to add → select your WiFi network → enter your password → tap "Next"
- Done! You'll see the live camera feed on your phone 🎉
Manual connection (if no pop-up appears):
- Tap "+" in the upper right corner of the app
- Tap "Add device"
- Select "Camera/Lock" on the left → "Mobile Camera" on the right
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- When prompted, aim the QR code on your phone screen at the S1's camera to scan
- Wait for connection to complete
The S1 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi. If connection fails, try moving closer to your router during setup.
Need to reconnect to a different WiFi? Use the included card pin to press the reset hole on the back of the S1 until you hear the voice prompt: "Reset Wi-Fi".

Start Exploring
You're all set! Here's what you can do from the app:
- 🕹️ Drive Mode — Use the on-screen joystick to drive the S1 around your home
- 🔴 Laser Play — Tap the laser button to play with your cat remotely
- 🎙️ Two-Way Audio — Tap the mic to talk through the S1's speaker
- 👁️ Auto-Follow — Let the S1 follow your cat automatically
- 🌙 Night Vision — Turns on automatically in the dark
- 📸 Photo & Video — Capture clips directly from the S1's camera feed
- 😊 12 Expressions — The S1's face changes expressions on its dot-matrix display
First time with your cat? Place the S1 on the floor and let it sit still for a minute. Most cats approach within 2–3 minutes. Then slowly drive it forward — watch the curiosity kick in. Try the laser button next — that's usually when the magic happens!

Troubleshooting
The app doesn't detect the S1

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. The S1 uses Bluetooth for initial pairing. Also ensure you're within 10 feet of both the S1 and your WiFi router. If it still doesn't work, try the manual connection method (Step 4 above).
WiFi connection fails

The S1 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Make sure you've entered the correct WiFi password. If using 5GHz and it fails, try your 2.4GHz network instead. Also ensure your router isn't blocking new devices.
The S1 won't turn on

Press and hold the power switch on the back for a full 5 seconds. If it still won't start, place it on the charging dock for at least 30 minutes, then try again. For crashes or errors, hold the power button for 10 seconds to force reboot.
The S1 can't find its way back to the dock

Check your dock placement: back against the wall, at least 2 feet clear on each side, 6 feet clear in front. Remove any obstacles. You can also manually drive the S1 near the dock using the app, then tap "Recharge" to dock it.
I need to connect to a different WiFi network

Use the card pin (included in the box) to press the WiFi reset hole on the back of the S1. Hold until you hear the voice prompt "Reset Wi-Fi". Then go through the app connection process again (Step 4).
Do I need a microSD card?

The S1 stores all footage locally on a microSD card (up to 512GB, not included in box). We recommend a Class 10 or UHS-I card for smooth recording. We include a free microSD card as a bonus with every order — it ships together with your S1!
How do I clean the S1?

Regularly clean pet hair from the wheel gaps. Wipe the wheels with a damp cloth. Keep the S1 away from water and damp areas. Always place it on flat surfaces.
